Town of Norman Wells to celebrate Pride History and National Indigenous History Month June 2022

Colorful, uplifting parades with floats and joyous festivals, workshops, picnics, and parties are among the principal components of LGBTQ+ (Gay) Pride Month, which is celebrated in June in Canada. Pride Month commemorates years of struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, as well as the accomplishments of LGBTQ individuals.

In June, we also commemorate National Indigenous History Month which recognizes the history, heritage, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples in Canada. Other notable dates in June include June 21st (Indigenous People’s Day Statutory Holiday) and June 23rd (Sahtu Day Civic Holiday).

Stay tuned in June for our month long social media campaign, virtual events, videos, and more!
