Council Update

CPL. Whynot provided reports for April and May:

·  Continued work within the community through volunteerism.

· Assisted with pizza delivery fundraiser.

·49 calls for service in April. 55 calls for service in May.

· 4 alcohol seizures in the month of April thanks to the help of North Wright Airways.

·3 alcohol seizures in the month of May, thanks again to the help of North Wright Airways.

·Successful Police Week Community BBQ- Thanks to volunteers who helped out!

· Assisted with Town Clean Up.

·National Impaired Driving Campaign during May long weekend.

New Fire Truck:

· Delivery date unknown at this time due to supply chain issues.

· 17 members currently on roster.

· Grads are coming to wash fire trucks. The Department will be providing a donation to the graduates through the Fire Fighters Association.

·Training to be provided every two weeks.

Dangerous Dog:

·   One issue currently being dealt with. Owner is now in compliance with the Companion Animal Control By Law.

Property Standards:

·  By Law will be running a contest during the month of June to encourage property owners to clean up unsightly yards. Details to come!

Lower Jackfish Lake Road:

· Thank you to HRN Contracting for grading the lower portion of the Jackfish Lake Road for free of charge.

Spring Clean up 2022:

·  Huge success this year! Public works was able to collect 2 full dump truck loads of oversized waste for residents. 23 residents were able to utilize the collection service for oversized waste.

Tire Chains and Chip Seal By Law:

·  Third and final reading passed unanimously.

  • The Chip Seal by law prohibits activities that would create damage to the surface of the roads
    within the Town of Norman Wells

Dash Camera Policy for Town Vehicles:

·     This policy sets out the Town of Norman Wells’ position on the use of on-board incident capture devices (Dash Cams) in vehicles and its effect on employees.


Capital Plan Amendments:


·     Additional $45,000 added to Penguin Palace Pool project to fix the roof.

·        New Bay Doors- Fire Department: Increase from $50,000 to $80,000.

·        Landfill Office building- decreased from $130,000 t0 $80,000.

·        Upgrades to existing daycare facility- moved to 2023.


Digital Sign Install:


·        The new digital sign has been installed on the Town Office.

·        This is to increase communications with residents especially during emergencies and construction
