The Town of Norman Wells’ Economic Development and Tourism Committee is hosting its first annual Economic Development Conference in August 2022. The purpose of the conference is to demonstrate the Town’s commitment to the community strategic plan by focusing on goal #1 which is “support and promote a strong, dynamic and innovative local economy.” The conference will be an event that the community, region, and territory looks forward to annually.
Previous Committee Chair Councillor Pascal Audet and members Kylie Frank, Chris Chivers, and Kacee Hunter began planning the conference in July of 2021. Newly appointed Committee Chair Councillor Kacee Hunter and Co-Chair Dave Wever will continue to lead the committee with conference planning and are encouraging the community to get involved.
The Economic Development Conference theme is “Today and Beyond”. The conference will incorporate a sporting event (softball/golf tournament) for which attendees and the community will be able to participate in. Other key events will include a gala dinner, live music, key note speakers and workshops! Conference registration will open early in 2022.
Do you enjoy event planning or do you have an interest in economic development and tourism? Conference planning meetings are held every other Tuesday from 12pm-1pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 14th. The community is encouraged to attend planning meetings and provide input!
