Public Notice: General Property Re-Assessment

The Property Assessment and Taxation Act (PATA), requires that a General Re-Assessment of all assessable properties occurs once every ten years.   The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) will be carrying out a General Re-Assessment of Norman Wells for the 2023 Assessment/2024 Taxation years.

Starting in June 2023, MACA Property Assessors will be in Norman Wells to carry out inspections of assessable properties to ensure that the information about each property is complete and accurate.  New values will be applied to all assessable properties, and as a result, those values will appear on the Certified Assessment Roll, 1st Revision and on the notice of Assessment.

 The Certified Assessment Roll, 1st Revision is a public document and will be available for viewing at the Town Office.  You are encouraged to view the Certified Assessment Roll, 1st Revision to compare the value of your properties with other similar properties.

MACA, in conjunction with the Town of Norman Wells will host an “Open House” soon (Date to be advised) to discuss rate-payer concerns and property assessment related issues.
