Our thoughts are with communities and first responders as they courageously battle wildfires not only across the Territory, but the whole country. During this challenging wildfire season, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the fire fighters and first responders for their unwavering dedication, courage, and selflessness; True heroes who risk their own lives to protect communities, homes, cabins, and wildlife. To every first responder, you have our utmost respect and appreciation. Your dedication and strength provide hope and reassurance during these difficult times.
This has been a challenging summer for our community and the territory as a whole. Weather conditions are hotter and drier than ever before and water levels on the river are at a record low. Meanwhile we still have forecasted dry conditions for the foreseeable future.
I appreciate everyone’s willingness to keep our community safe by following the fire restriction. I know it doesn’t seem like there is an end in sight but together as a community we will get through this. I will continue to work with all local authorities to ensure that the community is kept up to date with all pertinent information and I want everyone to know that we are re-evaluating the fire restriction on a daily basis. I want to thank everyone for their patience during this time.
